Commissioners and County Council members allocate $10,000 to provide free spay/neuter surgeries for Harrison County residents.

2001
Veterinarian agrees to provide surgeries at Harrison County Fairgrounds in Corydon utilizing his mobile surgical unit
Fairgrounds plan is announced in the Corydon Democrat
Citizens are provided a phone number to call for appointments
Spay/Neuter Hotline receives 120 calls within 36 hours
Volunteers and veterinarian set up in 4-H Building and in mobile unit
135 dogs and cats are sterilized in four days
2001-2002
Spay/Neuter funding approved by Commissioners and County Council
Three additional surgical sessions are completed at the fairgrounds
Approximately 120 to 140 dogs and cats are sterilized during each four-day period
2002-2003
Spay/Neuter funding approved by Commissioners and County Council
Dr. Julie Janes, Georgetown Veterinary Clinic, agrees to provide weekly surgeries through her office in May, 2002
2003
January 25 - Dr. Janes holds a "Cat-a-Thon" at her office and performs 53 sterilizations
2004
Spay/Neuter funding approved by Commissioners and County Council
Dr. Ronald Smith, Smith Animal Clinic, begins providing surgeries
"Tom Cat-a-Thon" Project announced - held at the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department (EVFD)
Rabies shot fee is waived due to a donation by Steve Romeo
Pet owners asked to make a donation to the EVFD to be used toward the WHAS Crusade for Children
50 male cats are sterilized
$120 donated to the EVFD for the WHAS Crusade for Children

Surgeries performed daily by the Georgetown Veterinary Clinic and Smith Animal Clinic

Spay/Neuter Voucher Program -- vouchers are provided to Harrison County residents
